Hike
There are many miles of hiking trails in Unicoi State Park. In the spring and summer you will find colorful blooms and buds. We will be hiking 2 different trails which will total about 4 – 5 miles in distance. The hikes are not difficult as they are mostly near the lake area.

Kayak
We will also plan to rent some kayaks and paddle around the calm lake for an hour. Life jackets are provided.

If we have some time, we may stop in the town of Helen, GA for sightseeing and window shopping.

Things to bring:
– Lunch or snacks
– Backpack
– Water (1 -1.5 liters)
– Hiking Shoes/good tennis shoes
– Sunglasses / hat
– Sunscreen
– $ 10 cash for the kayak rental
– $ 10 for carpool driver

Some of the trails we will hike :

Bottoms Loop Trail
2 mile loop. Compacted Soil Surface.  Rated moderate.
A moderate hike through rhododendrons, mountain laurels, and hemlocks that passes by remains of an old homestead.
In the spring, you will find a variety of wildflowers and blooms. The trail crosses several brooks as it winds through a hardwood forest, and then meets the rippling waters of Smith Creek.

Lake Trail
2.5 mile loop. Compacted Soil Surface. Rated easy.
This trail is mostly flat as it winds around the edge of the 53-acre Uncoi Lake. A pleasant loop trail with views of Uncoi Lake and surrounding mountains.
