Camping: 2 nights at Coosawattee River Resort.
Cost: $75.00 per person. Includes Camping fees, gas costs and food at campsite. You may need to purchase your own food/snacks while traveling in car.
Come and join us for a great Fall weekend in the North Georgia Mountains. We have reserved a special campsite in the Coos
awattee River Resort near the small mountain city of Ellijay, GA. There is only room for 16 people so sign up early if you want to go. Please note this event is only open to people who have hiked with us before. The hikes we will do on Saturday and Sunday may be quite challenging.
The campsite is located in a private campground. There are restroom facilities, and a shower is in both restrooms. It is a campground so don’t expect luxury. Actually having a restroom is a luxury. We have also rented a pavilion on Saturday night which will make our evening meal very comfortable even if there is bad weather. The camping spots are on the banks of the Coosawattee River so you will get to sleep to the sound of gently flowing water.
The hikes will be fairly challenging. They will be a minimum of 6 miles but a maximum of 10. Please don’t sign up if you cannot do this level of difficulty. As we are in the North Georgia Mountains you can also expect some elevation changes.
We have all the camping equipment so you only
need to bring your own pillow, clothes and toiletries. If you have a sleeping bag that will help but we can probably bring one for you if needed. You will need your normal hiking gear, of day pack and good hiking shoes. I will provide everyone a checklist once I know who is coming.
