Yonah Mountain is located near Helen Ga. There is approximately a 1500 ft elevation gain in around 2.5 miles. As we near the top, we will veer off the main trail and hike along the side of the exposed rock face. We will have lunch on a rocky outcrop with an excellent view near the top of the mountain or on the grass patch at the summit. It does involve some steep sections and rocky terrain, and should prove to be moderately strenuous. We will also visit Helen after the hike. If you want to go tubing at Helen please bring a bathing suit, towel or a change of clothes.  Cost for tubing is $5 per person.

PLEASE NOTE: This hike does have some elevation gain but should be manageable for anyone is reasonably fit. It is the equivalent of hiking up Stone Mtn about 2.5 times. Hiking poles or a hiking stick are highly recommended for the steep and rocky sections. There are restrooms (pit toilets) at the trailhead.

Required Items to Bring: 2 liters of water Trail snacks Lunch Good hiking boots/shoes Money to help cover gas costs

Recommended Items to Bring: Day Backpack, Sunglasses, Hat, Camera.  Hiking Poles/Stick are highly recommended.
