Visitors are amazed at the breathtaking colors of Georgia’s “Little Grand Canyon.” The red and purple hues of the soft canyon soil, make a beautiful natural painting at this unique park. Visitors can enjoy views of the canyons from the rim trail, and can also venture into the canyon to experience a truly unique perspective. A visitor center explains how the massive gullies (the deepest being 150 feet) were caused by erosion due to poor farming practices in the 1800s.

We will hike part of the rim of the canyon and also in and out of the various canyons which on occasions is along a creek bed.  Your feet will get WET if you don’t have waterproof shoes. It is recommended that you wear hiking boots on this trail because of the wet areas and the ruggedness of the trail.

Things to bring:
– Water 1-2 liters
– Trail snacks and lunch
– Good hiking boots or shoes
– Trash bag to put muddy shoes in after hike (prepare another pair of shoes)

Recommended items to bring:
Daypack / Hiking stick / Rain jacket / Camera
