Join us for a hike on probably the most famous trail in the USA. This hike is part of Section 3 of the Appalachian Trail. Please note the elevation profile so that you can observe that this is a fairly difficult Appalachian Trail hike as it involves a climb over Blood Mountain. Blood Mtn is the 4th highest mountain in Georgia. We will shuttle cars leaving some at Neels Gap and some at Miller Gap.

There is quite a bit of elevation change in this hike. The highest continuous climb is about 1600 feet which is about the 2.5 times the height of Stone Mountain. I’m not sure whether we’ll do the hike starting at Miller Gap or starting at Neels Gap. It depends on whether people would prefer a steep uphill climb and more gentle downhill or a more gentle uphill and steep downhill.

We won’t be driving on the Forestry roads at all as both gaps are on paved roads, so this hike will also be much easier on the cars.
