Coosa Bald is Georgia’s 6th highest mountain with an elevation of 4271 feet at the peak. It is located fairly close to Vogel State Park. This is a new hike that we have never done before. It follows the Duncan Ridge Trail. We will start at the Buckeye Gap (elevation 3280 feet) on Duncan Ridge Road and shuttle cars to Wolfpen Gap on Hwy 180 (elevation 3260 feet). The trail does go up down in between these points so expect a total climb of about 1500 feet for this trail and that’s why it is rated D3.
The weather will be getting cooler so wear layered clothing. We are experiencing a late fall so there should be still some good colors on the leaves.
Things to bring:
Good tennis shoes, hiking shoes or boots
1-1.5 liters of water
Snacks
Packed Lunch
Camera (optional)
Layered clothing
